This is a 2003 Audi RS6 finished in Mugello Blue with the Ivory leather interior. It’s powered by a 450 horsepower twin turbo 4.2L V8 engine mated to a 5-speed Tipronic automatic transmission backed up to a Quattro all-wheel drive system. That puts it ahead of all its rear wheel drive rivals for 0 to 60 mph times as well as all weather drivability. It was the quickest sedan you could buy back then, and in fact, is even quicker 0-60 mph than a Z06 of that year. And nearly 20 years later, there are still very few 4-door cars that can out perform it. With a $90,000 sticker price and a one year only production run in the USA, exclusivity is guarantied over the BMW M5 or Mercedes E55. While it has supercar performance, it’s still very comfortable and docile making it a realistic daily driver, and when driven with restraint, can get mid 20’s mpg on the highway.

The engine is a rocket but the transmission will start to slip in first gear and default to 5th gear after it warms up. I took it to the Carlisle Import Festival over 200 miles roundtrip last spring and had it up to 110 mph on the PA autobahn so you can still drive it anywhere. This car would be a perfect candidate for a 6-speed conversion. Otherwise, a good used transmission can be found for $800-$1,200, the existing transmission can be rebuilt locally in the $1,500-$1,800 range or a remanufactured transmission costs around $2,500. Otherwise it runs and drives great. The engine pulls strong and feels smooth both at idle, while accelerating and throughout the cruising range, the steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping, and the suspension is tight. The A/C blows ice cold. It has a matching set of four ultra high-performance Continental ExtremeContact™ DWS tires size P255/40ZR18 with excellent tread on the fronts and good tread on the rears. The tread is designed to greatly enhance performance in dry conditions while providing powerful wet handling and braking along with biting snow-on-snow grip. These tires combine excellent looks and handling with low noise and a smooth ride resulting in excellent handling and a comfortable drive. With a high 540 treadwear rating and an original 60,000 mile treadlife warranty, you should get over 40,000 more miles out of this set when rotated regularly. They have been balanced with coated stick-on balance weights mounted on the inside of the wheel for a super clean look. These weights won’t corrode and turn ugly like cheap uncoated weights. The spare tire doesn’t look like it has ever been used.
The car has been fully checked out and serviced with over $3,000 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and repairs with original Audi or other name brand parts not including the tires. Some of the items checked or serviced include:

If you are serious about buying an RS6, this is about as low as they go in this nice condition because of the transmission issue. Remember, you can get a great deal on-line with prices sometimes way below retail, but nobody is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either. Also when comparing prices, remember the things that you won’t have to spend money on soon after getting it home. With this car you won’t have to spend $2,000-$3,000 on paint and bodywork to fix faded or peeling clearcoat, deep scratches or dented doors and fenders, you won’t have to spend $1,000 on interior work to repair worn or torn upholstery or headliner, you won’t have to spend $1,000 to rebuild the front end or suspension, you won’t have to spend $1,000 on a complete brake service and you won’t have to spend $800-$1,000 for a new set of tires. With many of the other listings on Ebay, Craigslist or on dealers lots, you’re lucky if they even check the oil before delivery. If you are looking for an RS6 at a good price in probably the most desirable color combination, then this car is hard to beat.
